Adhesion And Growth Of Human Periodontal Ligament Cells On Hyaluronic Acid/Collagen Scaffolds

Abstract
Objective To study the adhesion and growth of human periodontal ligament cells (PDLC) on collagen, hyaluronic acid and hyaluronic acid/collagen scaffolds, so as to preliminarily explore the feasibility of hyaluronic acid/collagen scaffolds in periodontal tissue engineering. Methods Human periodontal ligament cells cultured in vitro were seeded on carbodiimide cross-linked collagen, hyaluronic acid and hyaluronic acid/collagen scaffolds; the MTT method was used to detect the effect of the scaffolds on the adhesion and growth of human periodontal ligament cells; and using Morphological changes were observed with inverted phase contrast microscope and scanning electron microscope. Results MTT results showed the adhesion and growth of human PDLC on collagen, hyaluronic acid and hyaluronic acid/collagen scaffolds. The differences between groups were statistically significant on days 1, 2 and 4 (P<0.05). On day 7 There was no statistically significant difference between the groups (P>0.05), and the number of human periodontal ligament cells in the hyaluronic acid/collagen group was higher than that in the control group; human periodontal ligament cells grew well on the scaffold. Conclusion Compared with collagen scaffolds and hyaluronic acid scaffolds, hyaluronic acid/collagen scaffolds are more conducive to the adhesion of human periodontal ligament cells, suggesting that this material has the potential to become an ideal scaffold material for periodontal tissue engineering.
