Abstract
Objective: To conduct a comparative study on the antioxidant activity and hygroscopic and moisturizing properties of collagen peptides from different sources (pig skin, cowhide, donkey skin, cod skin, and cow bone). Methods: The antioxidant activity of collagen peptides was evaluated by scavenging DPPH free radicals and measuring ABTS+¡¤ and reducing power. At the same time, the hygroscopicity and moisturizing properties of collagen peptides were comparatively analyzed. Results: Donkey skin collagen peptide has a strong ability to scavenge DPPH free radicals, with an IC50 value of 0.63 mg/mL. Cod skin collagen peptide has a strong ability to scavenge ABTS+¡¤, with an IC50 value of 0.12mg/mL. Donkey skin collagen peptide has strong reducing power. When the mass concentration is 10mg/mL, the OD700nm value is 0.61. Donkey skin collagen peptide has good moisture absorption and moisturizing properties. In an environment with a relative humidity of 43%, the moisture absorption rate is 10.17% for 24 hours and the moisturizing rate is 98.90% for 72 hours. Conclusion: Donkey skin collagen peptide has good antioxidant properties and moisture absorption and moisturizing properties
