Abstract
In order to explore the effect of long-term feeding of marine collagen peptide on the survival time of SD rats, 160 4-week-old SD rats were selected and randomly divided into a blank control group and three doses of MCP intervention groups, with 40 rats in each group, half male and half female. Rats in the control group and three doses of MCP intervention group were given ordinary standard feed respectively, and 2.25%, 4.5% and 9% MCP intervention group feed were added to the control group’s feed respectively until they died of natural aging. During the experiment, the rats’ weight, food intake, and food utilization were recorded, and the rat serum’s antioxidant-related indicators superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-PX) were measured every 6 months. activity and malondialdehyde (MDA) levels. Survival analysis results showed that the median survival time of the three doses of MCP intervention groups, especially the survival time of the last 30% of surviving animals, was significantly longer than that of the control group; at 18 and 24 months of intervention, the 4.5% and 9% MCP intervention groups The activities of serum SOD enzyme and GSH-PX in both male and female rats were significantly higher than those in the control group, while the levels of MDA were significantly lower than those in the control group. This study shows that long-term intervention with a certain dose of MCP can prolong the survival time of rats, and the improvement of MCP’s antioxidant capacity in the aging process of SD rats may be one of the mechanisms.
