Abstract
An edible composite film was prepared using catfish skin collagen and chitosan as raw materials and modified with ferulic acid. An orthogonal experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of ferulic acid addition, heat treatment temperature and heat treatment time on the performance of the composite membrane, in order to reduce the water vapor transmission rate of the composite membrane and enhance the mechanical properties of the composite membrane. The results show that the addition amount of ferulic acid, heat treatment temperature, and heat treatment time have a significant impact on the performance of the composite membrane. The optimal modification conditions are: 2% ferulic acid addition, heat treatment temperature 70 ¡ãC, and heat treatment time 30 min. Under these conditions, the tensile strength of the composite film (24.72¡À0.86) MPa, elongation at break (102.99¡À1.58)%, and water vapor transmission rate (0.25¡À0.01) (g¡¤mm)/(h¡¤m2¡¤ kPa), solubility (27.96¡À0.76)%, transmittance (84.1¡À0.9)%
