Abstract
The effects of chitosan, chondroitin sulfate and heparin on the physical and chemical properties and biocompatibility of collagen sponge were studied. The results showed that the porosity and warm water rate of collagen sponge decreased after adding chitosan, increased after adding chondroitin sulfate, and had no significant change after adding heparin. All three additives can reduce matrix shrinkage and enhance the material’s anti-degradation properties, but the differences among species are not obvious. Compared with pure collagen sponges, composite sponges can further promote cell adsorption and proliferation. The addition of chitosan and heparin has equivalent effects and is better than chondroitin sulfate. It is expected to be used in the construction of tissue-engineered artificial skin.
