Abstract
Objective To explore the mechanism of astragalus improving muscle atrophy in rats with injection sciatic nerve injury. Methods 24 SD rats were randomly divided into 4 groups: normal group, model group, negative control group and astragalus intervention group. The muscle weight was measured using a balance, the cross-sectional area of muscle fibers was measured with a Leica image analyzer after HE staining, and the changes in collagen fibers in the peroneus longus muscle were observed with VG staining. Results Two weeks after penicillin injection into the sciatic nerve, compared with the normal group, the rats in the model group limped, the peroneus longus muscle mass shrank, the color became darker, the muscle weight decreased, the muscle fiber cross-sectional area decreased, and the collagen fibers proliferated significantly; the negative control group The symptoms were further aggravated; the above changes were significantly improved in the astragalus intervention group. Conclusion Astragalus can improve muscle atrophy caused by sciatic nerve injury caused by penicillin injection by reducing collagen fiber proliferation in rat peroneus longus muscle.
