Abstract
An adsorbent material was prepared by solidifying ferric iron on collagen fibers, and its bacterial adsorption characteristics were studied. The results showed that iron (III) is chemically bonded to collagen fibers and will not be leached out by water; the adsorbent material is effective against bacteria. It has strong adsorption capacity. When the concentration of Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus is 1.02¡Á107cfu respectively? ml-1 and 9.80¡Á106cfu? ml-1, the adsorption capacity of collagen fibers for them reaches 2.04¡Á109cfu respectively after adsorption for 1 hour at 30¡ãC? g-1 and 3.15¡Á109cfu? g-1, its adsorption equilibrium conforms to the Freundlich equation. Bacterial age has a greater impact on the adsorption equilibrium, while temperature and pH have little impact. Further research shows that the adsorption kinetics of collagen fiber-solidified iron to bacteria can be used as a pseudo-second-order rate The equilibrium adsorption amount calculated by this equation is very consistent with the actual measured value, and the error is within 2%; in addition, the adsorption speed is very fast, and the adsorption may be carried out on the surface of the material.
