Abstract

Based on the rich AMS14C dating data, the collagen C and N isotopes of the mammalian skeleton fossils of deer, pigs and cattle at the Zhongba site in the Three Gorges Reservoir area of the Yangtze River were analyzed to restore the past feeding characteristics and paleoclimate of the mammals at the Zhongba site. , paleoecological environment and human activities. The research results show that most bones are well preserved, and the loss of collagen has no effect on the composition of C and N stable isotopes. The average values of deer bone collagen ¦Ä13C and ¦Ä15N are ¨C23.1¡ë and 4.7¡ë respectively, indicating that deer bone Live in a closed habitat and feed on leaves and shrubs; the average values of bovine collagen ¦Ä13C and ¦Ä15N are ¨C19.6¡ë and 5.2¡ë respectively, indicating that cattle live in an open habitat and feed on herbs. C isotope analysis shows that deer Both cattle and cattle feed on C3 plants, indicating that deer and cattle live in the same ecosystem; but the t test shows that deer collagen ¦Ä13C and ¦Ä15N values are smaller than those of cattle, indicating that the habitats of deer and cattle are different; the ¦Ä13C of cattle and deer , there is partial overlap in ¦Ä15N values, indicating that there is still a certain amount of food competition between herbivorous cattle and deer. The ¦Ä13C and ¦Ä15N values of pig bone collagen are ¨C17.1¡ë and 5.5¡ë respectively. The t test shows that the ratio of pig bone collagen ¦Ä13C and ¦Ä15N values Both cattle and deer are larger, indicating that the trophic level of pigs is higher than that of cattle and deer. The ¦Ä13C value range of pigs is large, indicating that there was already trade of domestic pigs at that time. The t test shows that the herbivorous animal deer bones in the strata of the site in different periods There is no difference between the ¦Ä13C values of collagen, and there is no difference between the ¦Ä15N values of deer bone collagen. This shows that there were no major fluctuations in the climate and ecological environment in the Zhongba area during 2200~4200aBP. This is the reason why the stratigraphy of the Zhongba site is relatively complete. .The minimum number of samples that can represent the mean ¦Ä13C values of deer, pigs, and cattle in this area are 8, 73, and 16 respectively, while the minimum number of samples that can represent the mean ¦Ä15N values of deer, pigs, and cattle are 4, 5, and 6 respectively.
