Abstract
Objective To explore the relationship between type I collagen ¦Á1 chain (col1a1) and ¦Á2 chain (col1a2) genotypes and bone mineral density in some Han populations in Guangzhou. Methods 628 adult individuals [age 20 to 79 years old, average (53.4 ¡À 15.9) years old] were selected, and their whole body, lumbar vertebra 2£þ4 (l2£þ4), femoral neck, Ward’s triangle and maxilla were measured by dual-energy x-ray absorption method. The bone density value of the rotor region and other parts of the body was measured using the PCR-RFLP method to detect the col1a1 and col1a2 genotypes of the peripheral blood leukocyte genome. Results Among the 628 subjects, no g¡út mutation in the sp1 binding site of type I collagen ¦Á1 chain was observed, and all col1a1 genotypes were ss type; 311 col1a2 genotypes were ee type, accounting for 49.5%; ee type 252 cases, 40.1%; 65 cases, ee type, 10.4%. The distribution of genes and genotypes conforms to the hardy-weinberg equilibrium law. There were no significant differences in bone mineral density values among individuals with different genotypes. Conclusion In the Han population, there is no colia1sp1 binding site polymorphism, and the colia2ecori site polymorphism is not closely related to bone density, and it cannot be used as a candidate gene for screening high-risk populations for osteoporosis in Guangzhou. ?
