Abstract
Objective: To study the effect of downhill running on the expression of type I collagen and bone mass in the bones of growing and ovariectomized mice. Methods: 80 4-week-old c57bl/6 female mice were adaptively fed for 1 week and randomly divided into a quiet group (group c), an exercise group (group d), a quiet ovariectomized group (c+ovx group), and exercise ovariectomized group. group (d+ovx group) and quiet sham operation group (c+sham group), with 16 animals in each group. Group d and group d+ovx conducted downhill running training for 8 weeks, and the remaining 3 groups did not train. 24 hours after the last training, the mice in group c and group d were killed; the mice in group c+ovx and group d+ovx underwent ovariectomy, and the group c+sham underwent sham surgery and were fed in a quiet state for 6 weeks after surgery. After resting, mice in these three groups were killed. Results: (1) After 8 weeks of downhill running training, the expression of col1¦Á1mRNA and type I collagen in mouse bones increased with statistical significance, and the bone histomorphometry index and bone mass increased with statistical significance; (2) After 6 weeks of ovary administration, the expression of col1¦Á1mRNA and type I collagen in mouse bones was up-regulated with statistical significance, and the bone histomorphometry index and bone mass increased with statistical significance. Conclusion: Downhill running may improve bone tissue morphology and bone mass by up-regulating the expression of col1¦Á1 mRNA and type I collagen in bones, and this effect still exists after ovariectomy.
