Abstract

Objective To study the effect of periodontal disease pathogenic bacteria Porphyromonas gingivalis lipopolysaccharide (LPS) on collagen phagocytosis of human periodontal ligament fibroblasts (hPDLF) cultured in vitro. Methods After adding different mass concentrations of LPS to hPDLF cultured in vitro for 48 hours, fluorescence localization and flow cytometry were used to detect the changes in hPDLF collagen phagocytosis rate. Results LPS caused a significant increase in hPDLF collagen phagocytosis rate (P<0.05). Conclusion Porphyromonas gingivalis lipopolysaccharide can promote hPDLF to phagocytose collagen, which may be one of the mechanisms of periodontal tissue destruction.
