Abstract
Objective: To study the effects of bergamot and wolfberry extracts on skin and hair growth in mice. Methods: Apply the extracts of bergamot and wolfberry to the hairless skin site of mice, and observe the hair growth at the applied site. After 42 days, the skin from the applied site was taken to determine the superoxide dismutase SOD activity, collagen and malondialdehyde content. Results: Compared with the blank control group, both bergamot and wolfberry extracts could significantly increase the activity of SOD in mouse skin (P<0.05), increase the content of collagen in the skin (P<0.001), and significantly reduce lipid peroxidation products. The content of malondialdehyde (P<0.05) promotes hair growth (P<0.001). Conclusion: Bergamot and wolfberry extracts can nourish skin and promote hair growth.
