Abstract
Objective To explore the effects of new dynamic compression interlocking intramedullary needles on the histology of fracture healing and the expression changes of type I collagen and osteocalcin in the callus. ? method? Fifteen 2-year-old green goats were used to create a bilateral mid-shaft transverse fracture model of the femur. The experimental side was fixed with a new type of dynamic compression interlocking intramedullary needles in order to form a sustained dynamic compressive stress condition at the fracture end. The control side was fixed with ordinary intramedullary needles. Pin fixed. On the 7th, 14th, 30th, 60th, and 90th day after surgery, samples were collected from the fracture healing site for histopathological and RT-PCR detection. Results Histological examination showed that the calcification of the callus matrix, endochondral osteogenesis and woven bone reconstruction in the fracture gap in the experimental group were faster than those in the control group. RT-PCR detection showed that the expressions of type I collagen and osteocalcin in both groups increased after fracture surgery, reaching peaks at 14 and 30 days after surgery respectively, and the experimental group was significantly higher than the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion The new dynamic compression interlocking intramedullary needle can promote the synthesis and secretion of osteoblast extracellular matrix and endochondral osteogenesis, thereby effectively accelerating the fracture healing process.
