Abstract
In order to explore the improving effect and mechanism of marine collagen peptide (MCP) on the learning and memory of the elderly, 20-month-old female C57BL/6J mice were selected and randomly divided into an elderly control group and three MCP intervention groups. They were fed with 0 and 0.22 MCP respectively. %, 0.44% and 1.32% MCP specially processed feed, and a 3-month-old young control group were fed with ordinary mouse growth feed. After 6 months of intervention, the jumping platform test and Morris water maze test were used for behavioral testing; nissl staining The morphology of the hippocampus was observed; the superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity and malondialdehyde (MDA) content in the livers of each group of animals and the expression of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) in the hippocampal tissue were also detected. The results showed that the spatial learning and memory ability and passive avoidance ability of aged mice were significantly improved after MCP intervention; the liver SOD activity of mice in the 0.44% MCP intervention group was significantly higher than that of the aged control group, while the MDA content was significantly reduced; 0.44% and 1.32% MCP The expression of BDNF in the hippocampus of mice in the intervention group was higher than that in the elderly control group. There was no significant change in the number of hippocampal neurons in each group of animals. Therefore, marine collagen peptide has the function of preventing age-related decline in learning and memory abilities, and its mechanism of action may be antioxidant activity and promotion of BDNF expression.
