Non-Collagen Mimetic Peptide E8Ds Promotes Type I Collagen Biomimetic Mineralization

Abstract
By analyzing the functional domains of bone sialoprotein and dentin matrix protein, a non-collagen mimetic peptide e8ds (eeeeeeedsesseedr) was designed and synthesized, and the collagen biomimetic mineralization system was introduced to jointly regulate the mineralization process of calcium phosphate crystals. Circular dichroism spectroscopy and infrared spectrum analysis results show that the peptide e8ds can combine with calcium ions and collagen molecules through electrostatic interaction. The analysis results of the peptide e8ds using a steady-state gel system showed that e8ds has a strong ability to regulate calcium and phosphate mineralization. The addition of peptides helps the molecular assembly of collagen fibers, increases nucleation sites, promotes the mineralization of calcium phosphate on the surface of collagen fibers, and significantly improves the degree of mineralization of collagen fibers.
