Study On Collagen-Coated Cotton Fibers
Keywords
Abstract
Collagen has a unique 3-stranded helical structure, excellent biocompatibility and biodegradability, and has great application prospects. In order to further expand the application fields of cellulose and develop new green cellulose fibers, sodium periodate was used to perform local limited selective oxidation of cotton fibers, and then reacted with collagen solution to prepare collagen-coated cotton fibers. The results show that the breaking strength of cotton fibers does not decrease significantly after limited oxidation by sodium periodate; collagen molecules are covalently bound to the surface of cotton fibers through Schiff base CN double bonds.
