Study On The Anti-Inflammatory Effect Of Gingerol On Collagen-Induced Arthritis And Its Mechanism

Abstract
Objective To explore the anti-inflammatory effect and mechanism of gingerol on bovine type II collagen-induced arthritis (Collagen Induced Arthritis, CIA) rats. Methods Six-week-old female Wistar rats were randomly divided into blank control group, model group, gingerol group and tripterygium glycosides group, with 10 rats in each group. A CIA model was prepared to observe the effects of gingerol on joint pathology and arthritis index in CIA rats, as well as its effects on rat serum tumor necrosis factor-¦Á (TNF-¦Á), interleukin-1 (IL-1), and interleukin-1¦Â (IL- 1¦Â) expression. Results Gingerol can inhibit the swelling of ankle joints in CIA rats, reduce arthritis index, reduce serum TNF-¦Á, IL-1 and IL-1¦Â levels, and reduce joint synovial cell proliferation, synovial layer and subsynovial layer lymphocytes. Infiltration, its efficacy was equivalent to that of the Tripterygium wilfordii polyglycoside group (P>0.05). Conclusion Gingerol has a therapeutic effect on arthritis in CIA rats, and its mechanism may be related to the down-regulation of TNF-¦Á, IL-1 and IL-1¦Â.
