supercritical CO2 extraction technology
Supercritical CO2 extraction technology is a process in which the objective compound is extracted and/or separated from its starting raw materials using supercritical carbon dioxide (SCFE-CO2) as solvent.
ETChem provide eco-friendly Herbal extracts to reduce carbon footprint
ETChem’s experienced team constantly provides customers with TOP grade quality of Natural ingredients that produced by innovation solutions & production methods that go hand in hand with current trends.
Using Supercritical CO2 extraction processing, ETChem is able to manufacture and supply a wide range of highly pure extracts to different markets and industries.
Supercritical CO2 extraction (SCFE-CO2) technology is clean and completely solvent free, and it has the ability to better extract the functional components of the ingredient therefore keeping the essential phytochemicals in the end results.
Supercritical extraction products, (Essential Oils, Oleoresins, and Herb extracts), are ideal for the food, nutraceutical, and cosmetic industries for enhanced flavor, fragrance, color and odor preservation, perfumery and aromatherapy.
What is supercritical CO2 extraction?
Supercritical CO2 extraction, also called Supercritical Fluid Extraction (SFE), is an environmentally safe way to extract herbs without the use of harsh chemicals or damaging waste. This state-of-the-art extraction technology utilizes carbon-dioxide (CO2, the gas that plants turn into oxygen) to gently remove the powerful compounds found within the herbs.
The CO2 extraction process consists of pumping pressurized carbon dioxide into a chamber filled with plant matter. When carbon dioxide is subjected to pressure it becomes “supercritical” and has liquid properties while remaining in a gaseous state. Because of the liquid properties of the gas, the CO2 functions as a solvent, pulling the oils and other substances such as pigment and resin from the plant matter. It is a very clean, sustainable, state-of-the-art extraction technology.
Why Supercritical CO2 extraction?
The increased public awareness of the health, environment and safety concerns associated with the use of organic solvents and possible solvent contamination in the food process pushing peoples to seeking for greener & eco-friendly processing technologies.
Supercritical extraction, using carbon dioxide as a solvent, ensures green, environment friendly separation and concentration of active compounds by elimination organic solvent residue and high temperature processing. It is non-toxic, high quality and considered to be a green manufacturing process.
