Abstract
Abstract: [Objective] To detect the expression of myofibroblast markers ¦Á-SMA and collagen fibers in human oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC), and to explore the relationship between their expression and cancer invasion pattern score (Invasive pattern grading score (IPGS) and its impact on prognosis. [Method] HE staining was used to determine the invasion pattern grade score; Masson staining and immunohistochemistry were used to analyze collagen area percentage (CAP) and ¦Á-SMA positive percentage, and statistical analysis was performed. [Results] Among the 80 OSCC samples, the number of cases in the IPGS <5 group and ¡Ý5 group were 32 and 48 respectively. There is a difference between the proportion of strong positive ?¦Á-SMA and CAP in the IPGS <5 group and ¡Ý5 group, P=0.004 and P=0.001 respectively; Spearman analysis verified that ?¦Á-SMA is negatively correlated with CAP (r=-0.391) . The survival time of patients with IPGS£¼5 was longer than that of patients with IPGS¡Ý5 (P=0.001). [Conclusion] The expression of ¦Á-SMA in OSCC patients with IPGS¡Ý5 is significantly stronger than that in patients with IPGS<5, and the expression of collagen fibers is negatively correlated with the appearance of myofibroblasts. The expression of IPGS combined with ¦Á-SMA and collagen fibers in OSCC can be used as a valuable indicator for clinical prognosis and diagnostic testing of OSCC patients.
