Abstract
Objective To study the effect of external application of caper total alkaloid cream on tissue fibrosis in systemic sclerosis (SSc) mice. Methods BALB/c mice were injected with bleomycin hydrochloride on the back to establish the SSc model. After topical application of caper total alkaloid cream, the changes in dermal thickness of mice before and after administration were compared. The skin and lung tissues of mice were detected by ELISA. Hydroxyproline (Hyp) and type ¢ñ collagen (Col-¢ñ) expression levels. Results The medium and high doses of caper total alkaloid cream could significantly reduce the dermal thickness of SSc mice, and also reduce the Hyp content of mouse skin and lung tissue (P<0.05 or 0.01). High doses could also reduce lung tissue Col- ¢ñ content (P<0.01). Conclusion Caper total alkaloid cream has a certain effect on improving tissue fibrosis in SSc.
