Abstract
The ergot fungus Claviceps sp. that infects grass plants not only causes ergot disease in plants and reduces crop yields, but also causes poisoning of humans and livestock. In central Xinjiang and parts of eastern Qinghai, ergot disease has been found in grasses of three groups and five genera that livestock like to eat. In some areas, the incidence rate is as high as 65%. Insects such as ladybugs, blowflies and ants are also active on the diseased plants. The study obtained 18 isolated strains from 6 species of Gramineae diseased plants in 5 genera, and observed the colony morphology, growth rate, spore morphology and size of the isolated strains. These cultural characteristics and morphological characteristics are similar to the asexual generation of the fungus Sphacelia of the genus Claviceps. By studying the sensitivity of these isolated strains to pesticides, it was found that carbendazim had a significant inhibitory effect on the bacteria. It is worth noting that ergot disease of grasses occurs on a large scale in tourist areas and pastoral areas.
